Welcome to the Teen Services at Shorewood-Troy Public Library! Here, we provide a safe and welcoming space for teens to thrive.
What We Offer
Teen Space
A teen-only space during teen-only times! We value our young patrons and respect their need for their own area. Library patrons aged 12-18 can read, study, do homework, use computers, and engage with friends in library-appropriate activities.
Hours
The Teen Space will be saved for teens during the following hours:
Monday-Thursday: 3pm-8pm
Friday: 3pm-5pm
Saturday and Vacation/Holidays: All day
Teen Equipment
In addition to providing teens a designated area, the Library also provides popular games, items, activities, and school supplies. The school supplies are free for use and don’t have to be checked out, but we do ask that they be returned so we can continue to offer them!
Items for in-house check out include:
- Calculator
- Headphones
- Games such as Happy Salmon, Llamas Unleashed, Sushi Go Party, Taco Cat Goat Cheese Pizza, and chess/checkers
- Nintendo Switch
- Joy-Con Controllers
Items can be checked out for up to 30 minutes.
Programs
We offer a variety of fun and free programs at convenient times for teens. Programs such as: pop culture fan nights, take & make (DIY) crafts, educational seminars, or programs focused on special interests like Dungeons & Dragons, baking, sewing, and so much more.
See a full list of current programs to register yourself and a friend! Registration is not limited to cardholders.
100 Books Before Graduation
Challenge yourself to read 100 books before you graduate high school! This program is for teens in grades 6-12. It’s super simple, fun, and rewarding! Learn more about 100 Books Before Graduation or head straight to start the challenge on Beanstack.
Teen Volunteering at the Library
Looking for volunteer hours? Look no further! Teens ages 13-18 can now apply to volunteer their time at the Library. Tasks and opportunities will vary, but any teen interested in helping out with special programs should fill out an application. After submitting, a staff member will reach out to go over next steps. All volunteers must review and return a signed copy of the Volunteer Policy prior to their appointment.
Connect with us
We love to connect with our patrons! Whether it’s helping you find your next favorite read, answering a technology question or finding specific information for you, we are ready to serve.
